Ingrid Avison didn't find songwriting until a pandemic, a heartbreak, a surgery, and a psychedelic desert experience cracked her open at the age of 34 — and now she can't stop. The Nederland, Colorado-based musician and grief therapist has spent the years since building one of the Front Range's most alluringly uncontainable catalogs, earning her spot as a two-time Finalist in the Planet Bluegrass songwriter contests in 2025 and 2026. Ingrid belongs on playlists alongside a refreshing blend of contemporary and nostalgic female icons including Jewel, Florence Welch, Chappell Roan and Olivia Dean. Avison enigmatically lives alone in a cabin in the woods, while bursting onto stage in sequins and her music reflects the same contradictions and complexity. Peri-menopausal, unapologetic, and just getting started, she writes about everything from grief to IUD’s, calling her repertoire, “The Tears to Laughter Pipeline.” Ingrid is now rolling out singles from her latest concept album, “The Ride” which explores her journey of leaving home to find a deeper sense of love and belonging in the world. Her most recent releases, California and Twilights and Tuesdays will make you want to roll the windows down, sing at the top of your lungs and dance in the streets.
