I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream with cider!!
We’re celebrating 🍨 National Ice Cream Day 🍨 with a recipe you can make at home. Grab a 4-pack or growler of St. Vrain Cidery Ginger Cider, sweet cider and vanilla ice cream (plus optional ingredients). And get ready for a party for your taste buds! 🥳
First, a lil story 🧐. Rumor has it, the original Root Beer Float, aka Black Cow 🐮, was invented in August 1893 by Frank J. Wisner in our home state of 🏔Colorado 🏔. They say Wisner owned Cripple Creek Brewing Company and was inspired by the snowy peaks of Cow Mountain ➡️ hence vanilla ice cream floating in dark root beer. There is research to suggest none of that is true. What do you think?
Regardless, to celebrate National Ice Cream Day (which was made a thing by President Ronald Reagan in 1984), we’re making our own cider-style float with a twist.
🍏Apple Pider Float🍏
(makes 2 floats)
· 1 can (12 oz) St. Vrain Cidery Ginger Cider
· 4 oz Sweet Cider (we used Big B’s from Hotchkiss CO)
· 2 scoops Vanilla Ice Cream (We used Sweet Cow’s Super Delicious Vanilla from our hometown, Longmont CO shop)
Instructions
Add a scoop of vanilla to 2 glasses. Divide sweet cider evenly into each glass. Pour 6 oz cider slowly into each glass. Easy peasy, cider squeezy!
Optional
· Sorbo’s edible straw - there are lots of flavors to choose from - we think Ginger or Apple would be great with this recipe
· Caramel for drizzling - we like the Vanilla Bean Caramel Elixir from Corey’s Chocolate
· Cinnamon for sprinkling
· Whipped Cream is always a good thing!
· Make it Zero Proof - swap out the St. Vrain Cidery Ginger Cider for Ginger Beer - we like Rocky Mountain Soda Company’s Ginger Beer and Extra Spicy Ginger Beer (there’s also a Sparkling CBD Ginger Ale)
✨Raise your glasses to each other, ice cream and all good things. Cheers!✨
